On 24th September 1990 the Princess of Wales is at London’s Aldwych Theatre for a charity performance of Noel Coward’s “Private lives”. That night she met Joan Collins who was starring in the Noel Coward play during its highly successful West End run. The Princess wears a new lacquer-red silk cocktail dress with black velvet collar and hem by Victor Elderstein. It shows a wide belt and off-the-shoulder neckline.

It is a very pretty and feminine dress. I however prefer the pink version of the dress that the Duchess also wore as I love the powder pink colour.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana traveled to Maitland, Australia in March 1983 for a walkabout and official welcome. The Princess wore a pale rose-pink and white striped suit by Catherine Walker that consisted of a short jacket with puffed sleeves over a simple blouse and skirt. The shapely skull cap with a large bow at the back was designed by John Boyd.
This is the “Rubik” wrap coat woven with a striking houndstooth design. It has a high neck, concelealed button front and a self tie belt. It is by Reiss.
The coat is nice enough but I am not a big fan of the houndstooth pattern.

It is a gorgeous dress, beautiful on the Duchess and it is particularly elegant accompanied with a hat.

2 – Kate wore it on 18th December 2013 at the Queen’s annual pre-Christmas lunch for her wider family at Buckingham Palace
3 -The Duchess also wore this dress on 17th February 2014 at the Actors’ Reception at Buckingham Palace.
4- The Duchess of Cambridge wore it again on 15th February 2015 to visit the Anna Freud Centre in London.

The asymmetrically cut neckline gives this dress a modern edge, while the capped sleeves are kept simple to ensure understated glamour and chic.
1- The Duchess of Cambridge wore the dress and jacket together on 8th March 2012 in London as she joined the Queen on first day of Diamond Jubilee tour. The jacket was cinched with a black leather belt and the Duchess wore a black fascinator to complete the look.
2- The Duchess of Cambridge wore the dress and jacket again on 9th December 2015 to attend a charity fundraiser on the trading floor in London.
