Diana arrives at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children on 2nd December 1982.She wears a raspberry pink woollen double-breasted two-piece suit designed by Jasper Conran. The long jacket has turned back cuffs, a mandarin collar and fastens with a double row of transparent buttons. The suit is completed with a full skirt.
The Princess visited St Mary’s, the Isles of Scilly, in April 1982. At this occasion the pregnant Princess wears a silk maternity dress in pale blue with white spots with a ruffled collar and cuffs with puffed sleeves, and is cut to fall from the bust. Diana chose it from a Catherine Walker brochure and it was one of her first dresses by the designer who would make so much of her wardrobe in the years to come.
Amid growing rumours that the Princess has contracted anorexia, she still manages a smile while greeting Queen Beatrix of Holland, at Westminster Pier, London for a state visit in November 1982. Diana wears a pink silk suit. The silk is printed with a flower motif quilted on the tightly belted jacket which had a highly frilled neckline and straight sleeves gathered at the shoulders. It is worn with a felt boater in a matching shade by John Boyd.
This pretty, shocking pink silk sailor-style dress with a detachable white collar was worn to the wedding of the Princess’s former flatmate, Carolyn Pride, at Chelsea Old Church September 3rd 1982. The drop elasticated waist of this dress by Catherine Walker enabled it to be easily converted to maternity wear.
