Charles and Diana visited Lauceston, Tasmania on 31st March 1983. Later that day they visited the sleepy town of Kempton, Oatlands, Ross and Campbell Town. The final engagement of the trip to Tasmania was a visit to the Australian Maritime College.  Jasper Conran designed the two-piece white suit worn by the Princess. The white suit has a long jacket, the skirt is a simple straight cut and it is worn over a blouse with a high mandarin collar. The ivory-coloured hat with silk flowers attached to one side is by John Boyd.

On 24th March 1983 in Canberra, Australia the Princess of Wales wore a dazzling new evening dress to a dinner given by the Governor General. This drop-waist style, V-necked pin-tucked bodice ballgown, with leg-of-mutton sleeves, was designed by Murray Arbeid and made in yellow-gold silk taffeta.
